Mumbai – The height of Shivaji memorial has been increased from 192m to 210m. In order to claim the extra height, the government has to write a proposal to Centre for environmental clearances for the extra heights.
If the proposal gets a green signal Shivaji memorial will compete with a Buddha statue in China for world’s tallest statue.
The state government budgeted Rs 3,600 crore for the entire project. Bidders for the first phase are invited. “We want the tallest memorial for Shivaji Maharaj.
Three bidders have shown interest. Within a span of 15 days technical details will be completed”, said Vinayak Mete, chairman of Shivaji memorial committee. Rs 2,500 crore has been estimated for the first phase.
