With an addition of 35 colleges in Mumbai and Thane region, the number of seats across all streams have increased. Students who have appeared for their standard X examination are awaiting the result, which is all set to come out in the first week of June, after which the online admission process will commence.  

Over 849 colleges have been registered with the State Education Department along with 35 new colleges. Majorly, the colleges are located in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, Ambernath and Panvel. Out of all seats, 36,360 and 7,69,930 have been reserved for Arts and Science stream respectively. The highest number of seats i.e. 9,69,930 has been reserved for Commerce stream taking under consideration the trend of students choosing Commerce over Science.

Out of the new 5,200 seats, 1,040 and 2,000 seats have been reserved for Arts and Commerce respectively. The highest number of seats have been reserved for Science with 2,160 seats. Following is the division of the 35 new colleges that are added in Mumbai Metropolitan Region:

Thane region- 20

West zone- 7

North zone-5

South zone-2

Panvel zone- 1
