The Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) has announced the postponement of all the scheduled IDOL exams. This comes after the institution postponed three examinations in a week for students from the distance education wing of the University of Mumbai.
The exams will now be held on the 19th of October, though the timetable has not been released yet. This decision comes on the heels of “technical glitches” experienced by over 9,000 third-year BCom and third-year BA students.
Some students said that they couldn’t even log in to the examination link provided by the university. Furthermore, the university is yet to provide clarification on re-examinations for those who attempted their virtual paper on October 3.

However, the institution said on Tuesday that this was the result of a targeted cyberattack on its examination software. It’s clear by these series of events that the process of conducting examinations during a pandemic is indeed very challenging.

As for the aforementioned technical glitches, members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) have asked the university to cancel its contract with software firm LittleMORE Innovation Labs.
State Vice-President of MNVS, Santosh Gangurde said, “All exams should be cancelled till the software company is able to conduct exams for students in large numbers. Students don’t need more anxiety than they are already facing.”
Given the issues that the children have been facing, there was a demand to setup a helpline number on which they could call to get their issues resolved. As a result of the same, the university has provided three numbers 9619486265, 9619536829 and 9619713348. They have also instructed that people facing technical issue during an exam can also contact 080-47191116.
