Allow class 10 and 12 teachers to travel by Mumbai local train: Deputy Director of Education

The request was sent to the state government, a day after Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced the decision to score class 12 students for the board exams. Officials mentioned that allowing teachers to travel by local trains is necessary for the process

In a recently sent communication, the Deputy Director of Education has asked the state government of Maharashtra to permit class 10 and 12 teachers to travel by the Mumbai local trains. The letter was addressed to state's school education minister, Varsha Gaikwad, who on Friday, July 2, 2021, announced the new method which will be implemented by the state to score Class 12 students for their board exams.  

The letter written by Sandeep Sangve stated that the teachers have to be present at the schools for the results and hence it is important for them to be allowed to commute on the local trains. He added that the same should be implemented from July 5, 2021, and should be applicable from 7am to 5pm.

Several teachers have also expressed concerns regarding the assessment from home and have informed that collating the score for the students of Class 10, 11 and 12 is not possible from home. Hence, the government should consider allowing the teachers to travel by train as they have to coordinate the same with other staff members from the school who are responsible in put the same out on time.

Meanwhile, Minister Gaikwad had earlier announced that the score for class 12 (HSC) board examinations will be calculated based on the 30:30:40 formula. The decision has been taken keeping the CBSE and CISCE methods in mind. As per the revised guidelines, students' final marks will be decided as per

  • Class 10 and 11 score - 30 per cent each
  • Class 12 internals marks  - 40 per cent 

Moreover, instituitons will have to release the results by the end of July 2021, and hence permission to travel will expedite the process.

Meanwhile, the State CET was likely to be conducted as per HSC board syllabus and earlier this month, discussions were held whereby the decision was expected to be announced by Minister Uday Samant recently after consulting with other officials from the board.
