Discussions are being held at the Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department and a decision will be announced soon. Minister Uday Samant recently held a meeting regarding the same with other officials from the board.

However, as per reports, the common entrance test (CET) is being considered by the state education department. The score earned from these exams will be used by students to seek admission in non-professional undergraduate courses.

It is being said that the state board’s higher secondary syllabus will be used for the examination this year. Due to the cancellation of board examinations, students across the state are now concerned about their admission in the first year of college. The decision regarding the same is yet to be announced, however, discussions are being held by the officials from the Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Board.

Sharing more information, State Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant, in a meeting held with the officials on Saturday, June 5, 2021, said that the department should keep various admission-related possibilities in mind. Furthermore, the ministry has also planned to set up a state-level committee that will work on the understanding the possibility of CET examinations. This will include experts from the field of education, officers from the concerned department and vice-chancellors of state universities.

Adding more information, Minister Samant also stated that if the department decides to conduct CET exams, students will have to follow the state board syllabus and follow the regular pattern. Meanwhile, the private and autonomous institutions have been asked to follow their own guidelines for the examinations. Furthermore, keeping the time constraints in mind, officials have planned not to make impractical decisions and announcements.

Meanwhile, the CET exams for admission in FYJC will be conducted as scheduled and SSC students will have to prepare based on the state board syllabus, informed the school education department. However, students from other boards had asked the officials to reconsider the same since there was a difference in the syllabus between the state, CBSE and other boards.
