Amidst the second wave of the coronavirus, on Friday, May 28, Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad held a press conference wherein she announced that the state government will not hold the Class 10 or the SSC examinations.

Moreover, she added that the internal assessment will be used for the same, the results of which will be declared in June. Meanwhile, she stated that an online CET exam will be conducted for admissions to Class 11. Students who qualify for the same will then be given admission to junior colleges.

Earlier on Sunday, Varsha Gaikwad attended the high-level meeting chaired by the Union Ministers and state education ministers to discuss and finalize the date and format for conducting class 12 CBSE board exams. She had further added that providing a safe environment for students in view of the COVID-19 pandemic is the state government's priority.

How will the internal assessment be conducted?

- Written assessment of the year - 30 marks

- Tenth homework, oral or demonstration - 20 marks

- Ninth subject wise marks - 50 marks

Important points:

- The results of the examinations will be announced at the end of June.

- The results committee will have seven members under the headmaster.

- Examinations can be taken post the COVID-19 infused lockdown if anyone has an objection to the assessment.

- If the result is not satisfactory, students can take two exams at a later date.

- 2 hours CET for 11th admission

- CET based on 10th syllabus
