According to the latest reports, certain public schools in Mumbai providing all-India board curriculums could receive more seats in Nursery and Junior KG, with an aggregate of 480 new seats to each class. These will be an addition to the 480 seats in each class in 12 such schools across Mumbai.

Based on accounts, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Education Department’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)/ Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) section has signalled towards an additional intake. In accordance with a letter by the civic body’s education department, the 12 schools are receiving a considerable response from the parents.

The letter highlighted that admissions in these schools are conducted by means of a lottery process, however, taking into account the overwhelming response, it is being considered to commence an additional division to both the classes, cited narratives.

It has been reported that from the selected schools, 11 are affiliated to the CBSE and one provides an ICSE curriculum. The admission for the 2022-23 academic year has ended, but there has been a growing demand to increase the number of seats considering a large number of applications.

Since the last two years, when the civic body commenced these schools, admissions have been undertaken only for the Nursery classes. With additional seats in Junior KG, admissions will be given in that class too.
