ICSI discontinues CS Foundation Programme

The Foundation Programme will be replaced by Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) which will be mandatory for all students to qualify for their executive exams.

Institute of Company Secretaries of India recently ruled out that the Foundation programme for Company Secretary (CS) aspirants will be discontinued from the academic year 2020-20121. It will be replaced by Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) which will be mandatory for all students to qualify for their executive exams.

The circular further stated that candidates who have qualified the class 12 examination can also appear in the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) programme. The candidates who have qualified the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and  Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) final course will be exempted from qualifying the CSEET. The CSEET shall be an online Computer-based Test and it will be comprising of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), audio clips, video clips and descriptive questions. An aggregate of 50 per cent and minimum 40 per cent marks in each subject will be the qualifying criteria for CSEET. The duration of CSEET shall be 135 minutes (120 Minutes for MCQ test and 15 minutes for Vivas which be based on presentation and communication skills). There will be no negative marking.

Computer Based Test of 120 minutes will be consisting of four parts i.e.

  • Business Communication
  • Legal Aptitude & Logical Reasoning
  • Economic and Business Environment &
  • Current Affairs

Moreover, a new clause “Continuation of Registration” is being introduced according to which the students will have to keep their registration renewed from time to time even after passing Professional Programme Stage till completion of all the training requirements so as to become entitled to be enrolled as member of the Institute. The prescribed fee for seeking “Continuation of Registration” shall be ₹1000 per year.
