After the decision to reopen schools across pre-primary and grade 12 throughout Maharashtra from Monday, January 24, a decision in regards to the reopening of colleges is anticipated soon. According to the latest reports, higher and technical education minister Uday Samant stated that a proposal will be sent to state chief minister Uddhav Thackeray about the reopening of colleges.
Samant was quoted by accounts elaborating on how fully vaccination students will be permitted on campus, he, however, clarified that all exams proclaimed till February 15 will be conducted online.
On the other hand, school education minister Varsha Gaikwad remarked that all existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) will have to be followed by schools. It has been reported that parental consent will continue to be compulsory for student's physical attendance.
Similarly, Mumbai guardian minister, Aaditya Thackeray tweeted that all schools in Mumbai that include pre-primary can recommence from Monday. The Chief Minister's decision to clear the proposal to permit nursery and kindergarten pupils to attend physical schools for the first time since the lockdown in March 2020.
Schools in Maharashtra began physical classes on December 15, 2021. Then there was a Christmas break from December 23 and schools were to resume on January 3. However, they were then asked to function online till January 31, by the BMC due to the rise in coronavirus cases. On January 8, the Maharashtra government announced that schools could not hold offline classes till February 15 in light of the restrictions it brought into force.
