For the last 48 hours, it’s been raining cats and dogs in Mumbai. On Tuesday, several parts of Mumbai received heavy rainfall and the city was once again a victim to waterlogging. The rains were so heavy that due to waterlogging on the railway tracks between Nalasopara and Virar, the train service between Virar and Borivali was halted.

However, Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde thought otherwise and said that rains in Mumbai were not so heavy on Tuesday morning. Still, Tawde left it to the principals of the respective schools to decide whether to declare a holiday or not.

On the other hand, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) had declared that all the schools in Thane will remain closed. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke at the Nagpur Vidhan Bhavan and informed that 11 places on Mumbai were waterlogged. Tawde issued no government order regarding a holiday in schools in Mumbai but instead told the respective principals to make the decision about the same.

There are no signs of heavy rainfall in Mumbai. There was a high tide at 8:30 but it has passed, so there are no possibilities for students getting stuck in rain. Hence, there is no need for a holiday like yesterday,” Vinod Tawde, Education Minister.
