Abhijnan Chakraborty of Poddar High School stood first in India by securing 99.50 per cent marks in the ISC (XII) examination, while Swayam Das from Kopar Khairne’s St. Mary School came first in India after securing 99.40 per cent in the ICSE (X) examination

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) Board announced the results of the Standard 10 and 12 examinations on Monday. Two boys from Mumbai have scored well across the country, eventually becoming the toppers. Abhijnan Chakraborty from Podar High School stood first in India in the Standard 12 exams after securing 99.50 per cent, while Swayam Das from Kopar Khairne’s St. Mary School came first in India in the standard 10 exams after securing 99.40 per cent.


I did not expect that I would come first across India. As I have secured 99.50 per cent marks, I will be able to achieve my dream of becoming a scientist. Along with this, I have a special interest in Chemistry subject. However, I will first go through all the career options and then will take a decision,” Abhijnan Chakraborty, Student.

Apart from this, Podar High School student Priya Khajanchi (Commerce) and Rakshita Deshmukh (Humanity), Pune’s Bishop’s school’s Ritisha Gupta came second in ISC examinations. Meanwhile, ICSE student Anokhi Mehta of Narsee Monjee school came second across the country.

His aim was to secure good marks, that too from the very beginning. He was brilliant in his studies and I was sure that he would come first in his school but I was not expecting that he will come first in India. We are very happy,” Ananya Chakraborty, mother.

Like every other year, girls have surpassed boys in ICSE examinations. As per the released data, 98.95 per cent girls and 98.15 per cent boys, passed the Standard 10 examinations. Further, 97.63 per cent girls and 94.96 per cent boys have passed Standard 12 exams.

Under CISCE board, around 10.88 lakh students had appeared for Standard 12 examinations, out of which, 96.21 per cent students passed. Further, 16 lakh students had appeared for Standard 10  exams of which 98.5 per cent students passed.

Swayam was always good in his studies and we knew that he will secure first place in the ICSE board,” Sharda, teacher, Saint Merry Highschool, Kopar Khairne.
