With the rise in cases of coronavirus, there has been a growing demand for online examinations or school-level assessments for standard 10th and 12th. Moreover, officials have clarified that they are gearing up for the usual offline tests scheduled at the end of April, considering the large volume of students.

According to reports, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has more than 30 lakh students who will appear for their SSC and HSC exams across the state. The state has announced HSC and SSC exams will begin on April 23 and 29, respectively.

Last year, the state education department had announced a syllabus cut of 25 per cent for the board examinations for SSC and HSC.  Meanwhile, with classes resuming for standard 5th to 8th in most of the districts in Maharashtra, sources say that about 85 per cent of the schools have resumed classes. After giving permission to start classes for 9th to 12th standard in the state from November 23, in the second phase, classes for standard 5th to 8th were started from January 27.

Meanwhile, in view of the rising number of cases of coronavirus, teachers have once again demanded a syllabus cut in SSC and HSC examinations to help the students cope as schools might remain shut for a longer period in several places across Maharashtra. The decision to resume school was given by the local administration. Accordingly, many Zilla Parishad schools were started in most of the districts.
