In recent developments, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) ) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) looking at evaluating Class XII students based on their scores from 2018 onwards.

Moreover, the state of Maharashtra reportedly is consulting college heads to determine if a similar methodology can work for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) students too.

According to a report in Times of India, on Thursday, June 17, CBSE and CISCE submitted their marking methodologies to the Supreme Court, which was hearing a PIL filed by parents seeking cancellation of CBSE Class 12 exams.

Moreover, earlier on June 3, the court had given the board two weeks’ time to place an evaluation formula for the students of Class 12. Meanwhile, the board had informed the apex court that the results of Class 12 will be decided on the basis of performance in Class 10, Class 11 as well as Class 12. The results for the same will be declared by July 31.

Furthermore, while 30 per cent weightage will be given to students' performance in Class 10 and 11, their class 12 performance will carry a weightage of 40 per cent. For Class 12, marks obtained in unit, term and practical examinations will be taken into account.
