The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has clarified that there will be no change in the schedule of the MPSC examination. Moreover, the examination will be conducted with due diligence and adherence to the rules amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In view of the stringent restrictions and the weekend lockdown across the state of Maharashtra, the examinations are to held on Sunday, April 11, as per the schedule. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission's Secondary Service Non-Gazetted Group-B joint pre-examination on April 11 was earlier facing uncertainty. However, the commission has clarified that the examination will be held as per the schedule.

According to reports, the state government has further asserted that the students will be allowed to travel to the exam centres and return home during curfew by showing admit card/hall ticket of the exams.

Meanwhile, in the past, after the Supreme Court adjourned the Maratha reservation, the demand for postponing the MPSC exams was gaining momentum, post which, the Uddhav Thackeray government had taken a big decision to postpone the examination to be held on October 11, 2020. At that time, the Chief Minister had made it clear that no student would be disqualified as the examination was postponed.

On the other hand, students attending night school have been in a fix as the question to appear for board examinations in their respective schools and colleges have risen following the earlier directive to permit students to appear for board examinations in the respective educational institutions.

Night schools do not have the infrastructure as they take their classes out of buildings of day schools. Moreover, night schools and colleges cater to students from underprivileged backgrounds who have to work during the day. As a result, the association of principals of night schools has written to the authorities seeking clarity on the matter.
