It was a common practice for students who appeared for their board examination of Standard 10 and 12 to change their examination centres. According to the authorities this practice has led to many incidents of malpractices. So, now in order to solve this proble, the State Education Department has ruled that from the academic year 2019-2020, no student will be allowed to their change their examination centre. 

Secretary of Mumbai Divisional Board Sandeep Sangave stated that it was observed in the past that a lot of students who appear for their exams as private candidates often request for a change in centre hoping that they would their scope to cheat may increase at the venue of their choice . Thus, they have decided that they will not entertain any such requests. While this may be a blanket rule but they are open to consider such requests in special circumstances such as when the student has a disability or poor health condition. For such cases, the board may honor the request to have an examination centre near their house.

Notably, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams have been scheduled to commence on February 18 and the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams will start from March 3. Recently, the State Government has ruled out many regulations with regards to education. 

State Environment and Transport Minister Aditya Thackeray stated that Municipal Schools will now have ICSE and CBSE curriculum. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had stated that Municipal schools in the state may adopt Delhi's education policy. The State Government also ruled out that five school chiefs along with five students from Pune, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan and North Maharashtra will be sent to Delhi to assess their education policy. 

Further, State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had ruled out a draft which stated that from the academic year 2019-2020, the schools will be inspected thrice every year as compared to once in a year. Schools have to fill their inspection details in the Unified District Information on School Education (UDISE) system.
