J J Arts College along with J J College of Applied Arts and J. J Architecture College has now been merged into a recognised university under the de-novo category. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has officially announced this. The efforts made by the government to give the college the status of a recognized university have been successful.


The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan officially announced the establishment of three colleges namely Arts College, Applied Arts College and Vastu Shastra College, which are now under the de-novo category. Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also handed over the letter declaring JJ School of Arts as a recognised university to the Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis. In this program, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan J.J. Visited the School of Art campus

An exhibition was inaugurated at Mumbai's Sir J.J. College of Arts, Fine Arts and Applied Arts. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Mumbai City Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar and many other dignitaries were also present at the event.


JJ University Grants Commission (UGC) has received in-principle approval to convert College of Arts, College of Applied and College of Architecture into deemed colleges. After fulfilling the terms and conditions of UGC, the path was paved for J J College to get the status of a recognised university.
