Coronavirus cases are increasing significantly across the state of Maharashtra and keeping this in mind, the school education department under the ministry has taken an important decision for the benefit of the students.

As per reports, a special examination will be held in June giving another opportunity for the students of 10th and 12th standard who would not be able to appear for the examination as per the schedule. The decision was announced by State Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad.

In a recent announcement, the government has decided to conduct board exams for Class 10th (SSC) from April 29 to May 20 and for Class 12th (HSC) will be held from April 23 to May 21, 2021. However, if the student is not able to appear for the examinations, the concerned schools have to inform the Board of Education. This is applicable if the student is infected with the coronavirus, if one if their family members is infected, or if any case if found in their premises or the area where they reside.

The board has informed that a special exam will be held for them in June 2021.

This year, the 10th and 12th standard examinations will be held in the schools and colleges where the students are studying. School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has given important information in this regard and stated that a written test for 10th and 12th will be held as per the scheduled date. But there have been some significant changes in the practical exam, and the timing of the test paper.

As per the revised schedule, three hours are allotted for 80 marks paper for both class 10th and 12th. However, this year the time has been extended by 30 minutes due to the coronavirus spread, giving more time for students. Moreover, for 40 and 50 mark paper, the board has extended the same by 15 minutes. Differently-abled students will be given an extension of 20 minutes for a total of 1 hour.

The practical test for Class 12 will be held from May 22 to June 10, 2021. HSC students studying Arts, Commerce and Vocational courses will have to submit assignments within 15 days after the examination.

Furhermore, students will be given an extension of 15 days, in case they or any of their family members are infected with coronavirus during the assignment or practical examinations.
