As per reports, several colleges in Maharashtra are currently conducting admission process for FYJC courses via Google forms. Upon understanding the same, officials have raised awareness and have clarified that no such permissions have been given yet.

Examinations and the admission process for students in Maharashtra have been affected drastically due the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. On one hand, where class 10 students are unsure about the SSC board examinations, college adminissions for FYJC have also raised concerns for many students. Clarifying the same, the state education department recently issued a notice asking both students and parents to be cautious about colleges assuring admissions for FYJC, as the same could change and become null and void if the admission process becomes centralised.

As of now, no confirmation has been given from the state government but several colleges have been giving confirmation, basis which the department has issued warnings and alerted people.

Reports state the evaluation process of SSC papers is unclear and hence the uncertainty over examination and the upcoming admissions has increased among the students. However, some colleges in Maharashtra have been taking advantage of the same and conducting admissions via Google forms, and this has further led to chaos and confusion. Understanding the same, colleges have been given warnings against such activities.

A report published in Mid-Day stated a letter was recently issued by the Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, DG Jagtap, addressed to the education inspectors in Maharashtra. The message confirmed that the FYJC admissions for the upcoming academic year has not begun as yet, and the same is conducted post the SSC board examination results are announced. Furthermore, this is a centralised online process across many districts in the state. However, many colleges have been misguiding students and parents regarding the same by conducting the admission process online via Google forms.

Officials have been asked to raise awareness regarding the matter and inform the parents and students about the unethical process being followed. The department has mentioned that the admission will not be considered even if a student gets a confirmation from any college. As of now, no official complaints have been filed regarding the same.

Lakhs of students in Maharashtra are currently worried about the SSC board examinations and the score from the examination becomes the basis for FYJC admissions across the state. Currently, the issue regarding the cancellation SSC examination is being heard at the Bombay High Court as the authorities have asked about the justification and reasons supporting the announcement. However, the state government has said that the decision regarding the class 10 board examination will be take in a few days.
