Indian superstar Rajinikanth has proved once again that he is the true 'Thailava.'
Looking at the current critical scenario in the country, he has decided to donate ₹50 lakhs for the wellbeing of daily wage workers of the South Indian film industry. Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the Indian film industry is in a complete e lockdown, and the step was taken to ensure the safety of the daily wage workers.
Besides Rajinikanth, other actors from the south like Suriya, Karthi and Vijay Sethupati, and several other filmmakers have joined hands too. While Vijay Sethupathi has donated 10 lakhs, Suriya, Karthi along with their father Sivakumar donated Rs 10 lakhs and soon actor Sivakarthikeyan also followed with a donation of Rs 10 lakhs.
As a protocol announced by the government, all the theatres have been shut and shoots have come to a halt across India to control the spread of COVID-19, thereby ensure safety. This has hampered the lives of many who work on every day, hand-to-mouth basis, and considering this crisis, the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) president RK Selvamani earlier requested the actors from the South Indian film industry to step ahead with financial help for daily wage members of the federation.
Actors Parthipan and Prakash Raj have provided several rice bags weighing 25 kg each. Many other celebrities are leaving no stone unturned to help FEFSI members in need, as they are the ones who work very hard for the success of their films.
Rajinikanth's upcoming film 'Annaatthe' directed by Siruthai Siva, has been put on hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak. It was expected to release during Diwali this year but may see a delay given the current condition.
