Theatrical film releases are a part of the distant plan at Sony YAY: Ronojoy Chakraborty

Popular kids content broadcaster Sony YAY recently completed two years, and to improve the engagement with the audience, has brought country's popular music artist Badshah on board, to promote the new episodes of its show.

Popular kids content broadcaster Sony YAY has plans to make their offerings a lot more special. To promote their new show among the kids, the team has brought the country's popular music artist Badshah on board, who has sung a foot tapping number for his young fans. The song has been shot for their beloved show – Kicko and Super Speedo and was recently unveiled at an event held in Mumbai.

Over the last few months, the show ‘KickO & Super Speedo’ has gained popularity among the kids who love the lead character of the show – KickO, for his slick-styled hair to his watch and his supercar – Super Speedo. The channel, Sony YAY has also seen an upsurge in its ratings, and keeping the same in mind the team has planned an exciting summer line up. Besides this, the channel will also extend the offerings by launching brand new episodes for Kicko and Super Speedo and release 4 power packed new Kicko and Super Speedo movies, for the first time.

Talking about the same, Programming Head at Sony YAY,  Ronojoy Chakraborty said, "This is an exciting time at the channel. Badshah came on board because we realised that he is a perfect fit for our character. During our research, we asked the kids about Kiko and they told us about the swag they like, and there was a similarity with Badshah's characteristics. That's how this association worked."

The channel recently completed their two year anniversary, and sharing his thought about the journey, he said, The last two years have been fantastic. We started with a few hours of local content and eventually built a library with original content offerings. With time we have seen that our characters being liked by the kids and today we are getting good TRPs. When we started off, the idea was to serve content in kid's mother tongue, and with time we have seen that it is being liked. We are one of the top channels in Kerala and are growing in other territories as well."

Sony YAY's Competitor channels have been planning theatrical releases with their characters. With kids and parents showing interest in such offerings, animation houses have also planned to evolve their content and subjects. On being asked if Sony YAY had any plans related to the same, he added, "To be honest, it is a distant plan. We are not planning anything theatrical releases now, but we may work in it in the future. Also, to improve our offerings, we'll release 13 new movies on our channel. Besides this, we have other plans in the summer line up this year where we have decided to come up with new seasons of each show."

With this move, the team has decided to now focus on building the library and developing 120-150 hours of content, as per every year.
