SPOILERS ahead for Game of Thrones, Season 8, Episode 5, "The Bells"!

Monday mornings haven't been the same (in a good way) since Game of Thrones Season 8 (also the final season) premiered and fans in India have been waking up at 6:30 am to watch the critically and commercially acclaimed show. Hotstar, the Disney/Star India-owned OTT platform, streams the HBO show in real time for fans in the country and there are a number of people watching GoT with the US on the platform. But when the beloved show is in the middle of something intense and the stream goes blank, it doesn't really leave a happy feeling, does it?

This is what happened during the latest episode of GoT as there was a blackout and interruption to the live stream of Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5 “The Bells”, which occurred during an important and intense scene between the popular Lannister siblings, Cersei (Lena Headey) and Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau)

Hotstar has admitted a ‘technical difficulty' caused the problem as Twitteratis tweeted to Hotstar and were left unsettled with the stream going blank at a crucial moment.

The Hotstar live stream of Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5 wasn't working properly for about 30-60 seconds during the Cersei-Jaime scene, around the 58-minute mark. First, the video blacked out while the audio continued in the background and then the audio went quiet for several seconds before the video returned, but the two were then out of sync for a bit as Jaime and Cersei spoke.

The stream was rectified was smooth for the rest of the episode.

This issue only troubled those who were watching it live with the rest of the world. With Hotstar getting simulcast rights for Game of Thrones season 8, the platform has opted for a live stream approach to airing all the episodes from the final season, just like it would for a live sports event such as the recently-concluded Indian Premier League season and Premier League season (EPL).

Game of Thrones season 8 concludes on May 20 and this one is the last ever episode as the season and series comes to an end. Let's hope there are no glitches during the final episode!
