Aaditya Thackeray Meets with Forest Minister Rathod To Discuss Enhancing Eco-Tourism in the State

The Maharashtra Government has been mulling the development of eco-tourism infrastructure in the state in a bid to encourage more people to visit little known regions of the state while also providing a boost to rural employment. 

Expanding on this, State Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray on September 10 met with State Forest Minister Sanjay Rathod to discuss the matter. Thackeray shared the information via Twitter while adding that the two talked about the Forest Department and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) working in tandem towards furthering this goal.

The coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra has significantly impacted the tourism sector. However, this is a global phenomenon and not particularly unique to the state. The state government for its part recently reopened hotels, resorts, and other related properties to the public as long as the rules laid out by the government and local civic departments are followed. 

The state government recently announced that a Taj Hotel will be set up in the Sindhudurg district providing a massive boost to tourism in the region.

 This comes shortly after the state government announced 600 acres in Aarey as a forest. Earlier there was a proposal to create a metro car shed in the Aarey area. However, now the state government is looking at alternative sites for the car shed.
