According to reports, the Mumbai Police has commenced issuing notices of CrPC under section 149 that prohibit the unlawful gathering of activists and NGOs. They have reportedly been coming to police stations, seeking permission for protests at Aarey against the proposed car shed location.

Based on accounts, notices have been given in the last two days to two activists. Further, the police have also allegedly barricaded the location where the car shed is slated to come up.

This comes in the midst of the "Save Aarey" demonstrations that were conducted inside Aarey as well as across nine states and union territories on Sunday, July 24.

Narratives claim that green activists will continue to protest and demand that the Maharashtra government moves the Mumbai Metro 3 car shed out of Aarey Colony.

It has been reported that the notice was served this Sunday to warn the protestors not to assemble unlawfully. The police have barricaded the venue and people have not been permitted to go closer to the metro car shed site.

For those unversed, the earlier MVA government had shifted the proposed car shed spot to Kanjurmarg. However, the new government headed by Eknath Shinde has asked the state administration to submit a proposal to move the proposed car shed location back to Aarey
