Mumbai Records 17°C For 2nd Consecutive Day; Lowest In November Since 2017

IMD officials said winds being northerly predominantly and coming from the colder parts of North India, the dip in temperatures was witnessed. Though, the night temperatures are likely to rise again from tomorrow, November 23.

Mumbaikars get a major relief from the heat as the city woke up to the lowest temperature of this month for two days in a row.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), regional met centre (RMC) in Mumbai, the city recorded 17 degrees Celsius today, November 22, which is four degrees below normal at Santacruz observatory. Whereas the Colaba observatory recorded 21.4 degrees Celsius.

If reports are to be believed, it is likely to be the lowest since 2017. Moreover, it is pertinent to note that Mumbai on Monday, November 21, also marked the minimum temperature at 17 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, November 20, the minimum temperature at the Santacruz weather station – representative of Mumbai – was 19.8 degrees Celsius.

Reports further exclaimed that previously, in the year 2016, minimum temperatures had touched 16.3 degrees on November 11. The average minimum temperature for the month of November is 21.4 degrees.

Officials at the IMD attributed the drop in temperature to the prevailing winter season and the cold wave warning in North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. IMD officials said winds being northerly predominantly and coming from the colder parts of North India, the dip in temperatures was witnessed. Besides, Mumbai also got some respite from air pollution with AQI at 132 on Monday, November 21.
