The iconic Shivaji Park Stadium is undergoing a big makeover wherein the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to get rid of dust in the ground. The civic body is expected to spend ₹4.07 crores on this project.

The call to revamp Shivaji Park comes after complaints by residents of the area regarding the dust that comes out from the stadium resulting in air pollution and allergy-related issues. The BMC will reportedly take up this project in a phased manner.

Officials added that a consultant geologist has been hired for this project given the experts’ views that Shivaji Park requires needs 2.5 lakh litres of water per day. Keeping this in mind, officials will also construct 35 ring wells within the periphery of the ground.

Reports suggest that the ground profiling method will be utilized for the levelling of the region. A previously installed sprinkler system will also be reinstated by the BMC which had been lying dormant due to inconsistent water supply in the well.
