Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Aurangabad to experience thunderstorm and rain

The IMD has further warned of a heavy hailstorm that could occur in some areas across the state of Maharashtra amidst the thunderstorm and rain.

In the past two days, untimely rainfall has lashed several districts of Marathwada and western Maharashtra. On Monday, March 22, Marathwada, parts of Vidarbha, Western and Northern Maharashtra was subjected to cloudy weather.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), strong winds and torrential rains are to be expected in three districts in the next three hours. The IMD has further warned of a heavy hailstorm that could occur in some areas. Moreover, the next three hours could be potentially dangerous for the people living in Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Aurangabad districts.

According to reports, as a result of the accumulation of thick clouds at higher altitudes, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Aurangabad districts may get lightning and rain. In addition, there happens to be a possibility of a hailstorm in some places. Winds can blow at a speed of 30-40 kph.

Meanwhile, the rains are likely to cause severe damage to agriculture. If lightning strikes, it is advised not to venture out of the house, not to stand under a tree or in a dilapidated building, or under a wall.

On the other hand, earlier on March 14, a drop of 3.2 degrees was recorded in the maximum temperature of Mumbai bringing about relief for the people across the city. According to IMD, the Santacruz observatory recorded the maximum temperatures of 35 degrees, a drop from Saturday’s temperature of 38.2 degrees.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures of 35 degrees recorded by the IMD Santacruz observatory were 2.1 degrees above normal while the IMD Colaba observatory had recorded maximum temperatures of 32. 6 degrees which were 1.1 degrees above normal. On Saturday, Mumbai experienced the highest maximum temperature of the season at 38.2 degree Celsius.
