On Friday, November 19, the last lunar eclipse of 2021 will transpire which will be a rare celestial occurrence as the eclipse will be the longest in over 500 years, highlighted reports. Visible across multiple parts of the world, it will also be visible in certain parts of India.

An eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth come in a “straight line” that obstruct the sun’s rays from reaching either the Earth or the moon. This partial lunar eclipse is anticipated to appear blood red.

On Friday, it is reported the eclipse will begin at 12.48 pm IST and end at 4.17 pm, with a peak at nearly 2.34 pm wherein 97 per cent of the Moon will be shadowed. It is believed that people in the country will only see highlights of the end moments of the event, mostly in the northeast regions.

Other states include the likes of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. Those in the northeastern can view the eclipse without any special gear, whilst the rest can use live streaming channels to do so.

According to certain reports, NASA elaborated on how this is the longest partial lunar eclipse of the century. It will last for a period of 3 hours, 28 minutes and 23 seconds.
