According to latest information provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai and its neighbouring city is likely to see heavy downpours over the weekend, that is June 25 (Saturday) and 26 (Sunday).

This brings relief for Mumbaikars as the city and its adjoining areas have received minimal rainfall since the onset of monsoon was declared on June 11.

According to IMD, Mumbai's rainfall deficit for the month so far stands at 47 per cent. As on Thursday, June 23, the stock was 1,41,242 ML, which is 80,648 ML less than last year, this time.

Owing to this, the Mumbai civic body was planning to 10 per cent water cuts in the next two days

On Friday, June 24, as well, Mumbai city and its suburbs witnessed cloudy sky with moderate rain.

However, despite light showers, the daytime temperature in the city have witnessed a drop. On Friday, June 24, IMD’s Santacruz and Colaba observatory recorded a maximum temperature at 32.6 and 31.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.2 and 26.8 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, a high tide of 3.66 metres was witnessed at 9.19 am, also, a low tide of 3.44 metres at 2.21 pm today in Mumbai.

Besides, a day earlier, the weather department had issued an orange alert for rainfall in several parts of Maharashtra and directed them to be prepared for the next five days.
