In the last 24 hours, Badlapur city of Thane district has recorded the highest rainfall of 408 millimeters this season. According to private meteorologist Abhijit Modak, 313 millimeters of rain was recorded in Ulhasnagar city and 290 millimeters in Ambernath city. Earlier on July 26, 2019, 540 mm of rain fell. At the same time Mahalakshmi Express got stuck in flood near Badlapur. Yesterday's rain caused flooding in the low-lying areas of Badlapur and along the Ulhas River.


Due to incessant rains in Thane district on Tuesday evening, grain was blown everywhere on Wednesday. River banks and low lying areas of the district were inundated. Due to heavy rains in Raigad district at the same time, there was a flood situation along Ulhas river. Due to this, water entered some places in riverside areas of Badlapur city, rural areas of Kalyan taluka. Raigad district recorded an average rainfall of more than 250 mm at various places. At the same time, Badlapur city of Thane district has also recorded record rainfall this season.

So, on one hand, due to rain in Raigad district, the Ulhas River was flowing at dangerous level, on the other hand, due to rain in Badlapur city, the natural drains and low-lying areas were filled with water. Like Badlapur, other cities in the district also recorded average rainfall of 200 mm. 313 mm rain was recorded in Ulhasnagar city, 290 mm rain in Ambernath city. Due to this, water accumulated in the low-lying areas of Ambernath and Ulhasnagar cities. Earlier on July 26, 2019, as much as 540 mm of rain was recorded in Badlapur. Mahalakshmi Express was stuck in the flood of Ulhas river during this rain. During the 2005 flood, more than 1,000 millimeters of rain was recorded in one day in Ambernath taluka.
