With the onset of monsoon in Mumbai, the city has witnessed few short spells of rain over the Santa Cruz area in the last 24 hours. According to Skymet, Santacruz has recorded 6.4 mm rain. Skymet, forecasting the weather conditions have said that the weather of Colaba and many other areas in Mumbai and the suburbs will remain dry, warm and humid.

So far, the city of Mumbai has recorded around 306 mm rain in the month of June against the monthly average of 493.1 mm. However, Skymet, further predicting the likely weather conditions stated that there is a cyclonic circulation over the Karnataka coast. The cyclonic circulation is said to move along the coast towards coastal Maharashtra. Moreover, a trough is also likely to form along the Maharashtra coast around June 29.

This is said to bring about rain activities in the city as Mumbai will start witnessing downpour in the suburbs by tomorrow. There are chances of moderate rainfall covered with one or two intense spells over the city from June 28 to 29. These rains will not be very heavy, so there is no probability of it disrupting the regular life of the citizens. However, waterlogging and traffic jams cannot be ruled out. This downpour is expected to continue until July 2.

This comes as news of relief for the people living in Mumbai as the weather conditions have been warm and humid in the city. The city, in the past, had received moderate rainfall to gradually heavy downpour on June 18. Although between June 2 and 5 heavy rainfall was witnessed by Mumbai, that is being attributed to the cyclonic storm Nisarga that hit the city with the officials moving thousands of people along the coast to higher ground as the storm approached.
