The city of Mumbai has been receiving rain at intervals and in patches for the last five days. Skymet has further forecasted the weather for Mumbai stating that heavy rains are expected to commence once again over Mumbai and the adjacent areas around June 28, with the downpour continuing intermittently over the next 2-3 days.

Mumbai had earlier received moderate rainfall to gradually heavy spell on June 18. Although between June 2 and 5 heavy downpours was witnessed by Mumbai, that is being attributed to the cyclonic storm Nisarga that hit the city with the officials moving thousands of people along the coast to higher ground as the storm approached.

However, since then, the typical monsoon rains have remained absent over Mumbai and suburbs. In the last 24 hours, no rainfall was witnessed in Mumbai. According to Skymet, there will be no significant weather activity over the city till June 27. The temperatures in the city are said to be marginally above normal with the minimums being near normal. The weather forecasting body has further added that it does not expect any significant departure in the day to night temperatures in the coming days.

The southwest monsoon had earlier continued its journey and covered the entire state of Maharashtra and parts of Chhattisgarh and Gujarat while many parts of northern India experienced hot and humid weather.

Many people have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure with the amount of rain the city has been getting. Most also mention how unlike the past, they are unable to go out in the rain due to social-distancing norms that have to be followed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Skymet has also predicted that on Thursday coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha may receive scattered light to moderate rains.
