Ganeshotsav or Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most loved festivals in Maharashtra, and Mumbai along with several other cities have begun the celebrations. Despite the coronavirus outbreak, Mumbaikars have kept the energy and enthusiasm high, and have given Bappa a warm welcome!
As per government directives, popular Ganpati mandals in Maharashtra have either cancelled their celebrations or have kept them simple and low-key. Many popular associations have offered LIVE darshan from Ganpati mandals, and this mode of darshan has pleased the audience.
Every year, lakhs of devotees wait in long queues outside temples and mandals to seek Bappa's blessings. However, the pandemic has brought a major change in our lives. The government has also asked all the mandals to restrict their idols to four feet. Besides this, strict guidelines have been issued for Ganpati Visarjan too, wherein artificial ponds have been created to ensure social distancing and safety during the special occasion.
