On Thursday, October 7, the Navratri festival is to start across the country, including Mumbai. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra government along with Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has directed the citizens to follow the protocols with regards to the coronavirus while celebrating the festival.
Moreover, places of worship are to be opened across the state on the occasion of Navratri which is likely to create an atmosphere of congestion which would lead to an increased instance of coronavirus cases.
Therefore, Mumbai Police is on high alert and strict security will be maintained during Navratri. Moreover, the officials have taken precautionary measures to ensure compliance with the COVID-19 protocols, Assassination, Drugs and Law and Order. In addition, the civic body has stated that citizens who do not comply with the rules will be prosecuted.
Meanwhile, Police patrols will be intensified to ensure strict adherence to the rules. Meanwhile, local political leaders, social activists as well as social organizations have been informed about the regulations as well. On the one hand, attention is being paid to the rules and on the other hand, social norms are also being monitored.
