Located in Bandra Reclamation, 'And It Was Called Yellow' encapsulates the essence of yellow - the colour of warmth, joy & freshness. Yellow as it is fondly nicknamed, is all about providing Mumbaikars an experience that helps you indulge in authentic Indian cuisine with a contemporary twist.

Indoor Seating

This place is all about comfort and warmth as the ambience is rightly set up to make you feel the same. We went over to experience everything 'yellow' and throughout the meal, I couldn't get the song 'Yellow' by Coldplay out of my head.

Outdoor Seating

The beverage menu is the right balance of Indian ingredients to international flavours. While some cocktails are inspired from street flavours like Karavand, Kala Khatta, Sugarcane, there are also G&Ts with an Indian spice profile. Staying true to their roots, there are cocktails like Hapustini made of Alphonso, and AnaSassy with pineapple and curry leaf. These pocket friendly cocktails start from INR 345 onwards. The menu also offers a House Specials' section with refreshing non-alcoholic drinks like Pomeco, Gooseberry Sour, Piyush, Apple Avocado and more. You can also pick from their freshly made on-the-go bottled beverages like Kokum, Aam Panna and Shikanji.

We sipped on a cocktail called 'B'oweld' (₹595) which was served in an adorable container which looked like an owl, and the drink had vodka, grapefruit and white wine. Definitely refreshing and the zing got us going to our food!

Talking about the food, they have veg & non-veg appetizers like Blue Cheese Naanlets, Quinoa & Wild Mushroom Haleem, Black Rice Pesarattu with Pulled Lamb, The Greek Seekh, Charcoal Button Idli, Malvani Fritto Misto, and so on. Their large plates include Dal Pakwan with Masala Double Roti, Kashmiri Lotus Stem Yakhni, Agri Prawns, Tellicherry Pepper Chicken with Neer Dosa, Tawa Kadipatta Mutton, etc. And to end your meal on a sweet note, you can relish desserts like Filter Kaapi Baked Yogurt, Cheese & Olive Kulfi and Rasgulla Truffle with Irish Cream.

Andhra Style Fish & Chips

We tried the Andhra Style Fish & Chips (₹385) and Jalapeno Malai Tikka (₹395) and both small plates were tasty. I would say it's slightly on the expensive side, but the quality of food along with the taste is satisfactory. The fish was crispy, fresh and spiced to our liking. Special shoutout to the fries that were served along with it. They were YUM!

Jalapeno Malai Tikka

I was genuinely impressed with the desserts though. The Filter Kaapi Baked Yoghurt (₹245) and the Rasgulla Truffle with Irish Cream (₹295) were simply delish!

The Rasgulla truffle was something unique with the Rasgulla coated with chocolate and dipping it in Irish cream made it simply irresistible. The coffee flavoured yoghurt was also the perfect end to the meal which was complemented by jaggery sesame brittles.

Helmed by Mrs. Nameeta Anand & Mr. Vishvaroop Anand of Karna Foods & Hospitality, the food upholds the spirit of India at its core. Speaking about the concept, Mrs. Anand says,

Our idea was to create a quaint corner in the neighbourhood of Bandra for all those who want to relax, unwind & have great conversations over comfort food and uncanny combination of drinks.

Exquisitely curated by Chef Saveen Shetty, the menu of this all-day dining space displays palate- pleasing combinations of flavourful dishes & eclectic beverages.

We wanted to create a menu which will not only represent the diversity of flavours in India but also blends different cultures seamlessly. Hence, the menu highlights its simplistic flavours and is akin to the warmth of a mother’s kitchen. The drinks are inspired by everyday flavours which complement the food, perfectly.” says Salil Kulkarni, Head of Operations at the restaurant.

And It Was Called Yellow is a casual dining space which will comfort you the moment you walk in and a nice meal with colleagues, friends or family out here will definitely be the highlight of your week
