In an attempt to strengthen their defence, Mumbai City FC (MCFC) has brought back central defender Anwar Ali. Ali who had played for the club earlier in the 2016 season of Indian Super League (ISL). The 34-year old is known for his skills as a centre back and played for Atlético de Kolkata (ATK) last season. Ali has also represented India between 2008-12.

MCFC took to Twitter to declare the re-signing of the defender who will strengthen the defence wall along with Lucian Goian.

In 2017, during his association with East Bengal FC, Ali suffered a heart attack while returning from a practice session and was admitted to hospital. Despite this, he recovered soon and joined ATK for the 2017 ISL season.
