Mogaveera SC and Star of Canara SC grind out hard-fought semi-final wins to advance to the finals of the 11th Late Adv. A. R. Kudrolli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament 2017, organised by the Karnatak Sporting Association and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan.
In the first semi-final match, Mogaveera Sports Club prevailed over Satya Vijaya Sports Club by a solitary goal. In a tense and keenly contested encounter, Satya Vijaya held early dominance but, Mogaveera did well to thwart all their attempts and the teams finished the first half goalless.
In the second half, Mogaveera changed tactics and were more aggressive. They found success when John Coutinho found the target in the 42nd minute for the only goal of the match and see them through to the summit round.
In the second semi-final, Star of Canara defeated Bombay Fort SC 4-3 via the tie-breaker after full time ended in a goalless stalemate. In the penalty shootout duel, the Canara side successfully scored through Nehal Shetty, Viraj Shetty, Glen Moraes and Royston Castelino, while Bombay Fort could only score three through Nikhil Shetty, Prasanna Shetty and Nitin Kotiankar.
