Sony partners with Facebook to obtain La Liga telecasting rights in India

Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) has been the official broadcaster of La Liga for the past four seasons but this year, Spanish top-flight football league, 'La Liga', announced their tie-up with social media giants Facebook, which becomes official home for all LaLiga Santander matches in the Indian subcontinent

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has partnered with Facebook to telecast the Spanish top division football league, LaLiga, on television in India this season.

It was announced that with this deal, over 100 selected matches will be telecast on SPN’s sports channels, including the key clashes, El Clasico and Madrid Derby. The matches that will be telecasted will also be available for streaming on the company's OTT platform Sony Liv as well.

La Liga is one of most watched sporting events globally and also home of football clubs such as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Facebook will live stream all the 380 matches kicking off the season this Friday free of cost in India which has 270 million Facebook users. Apart from India, the matches will be broadcasted on Facebook in seven more countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The matches, both live and on- demand basis, will be available on the official La Liga Facebook Page as well as individual club pages.
