10 staff members of Radha Krishna restaurant in Andheri test positive for COVID-19

Maharashtra, the worst-affected state by the coronavirus in India, reported 8,998 new cases of the virus on Thursday, March 4. Meanwhile, Mumbai registered 1,103 cases. Five deaths related to the infection were also reported.

According to reports, 10 staff members of a Radha Krishna restaurant in Mumbai have tested positive for coronavirus. All of them have been shifted to BKC jumbo centre for treatment.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed that 35 restaurant staff were tested for COVID-19 out of which 10 people tested positive. The other staff members of the restaurant have also been quarantined to a nearby hotel.

Besides, people who might have come in contact with those infected have been asked to undergo compulsory quarantine.

Moreover, the BMC said that the restaurant in Andheri has been shut for two days after 10 positive cases were detected.

After sanitisation and the deployment of new staff, the hotel will be allowed to operate.

The state's COVID-19 recovery rate is 93.66 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.39 per cent, the officials said.

The BMC officials said that the civic body had formed various squads which have been conducting surprise checks over the last couple of weeks to see whether the rules are being followed or not. Strict action is being taken against those flouting the COVID-related rules.

A recently conducted review of COVID-19 cases and patient numbers over the past week showed a 25 per cent increase in active cases found in five wards of the western suburbs. As per a report released in 2020, these wards, for a few months were marked as COVID-19 hotspots, and as per the review, areas like Borivali, Andheri, Kandivali, Malad and Jogeshwari have once again seen a rise in cases.
