As vaccinations for the coronavirus are pivotal in order to curb the spread of the disease, Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set a target of vaccinating about 35 lakh people in the month of October.

Moreover, schools, cinema halls, etc are being resumed across the city due to which the civic body has decided to speed up the vaccination process. In Mumbai, about 29,51,000 vaccinations were done in September.

Meanwhile, over the last few days, the number of fresh COVID-19 cases in Mumbai has been around 400 to 500 clocked per day, but on Sunday, 570 new patients have been added in a single day. Currently, the number of patients recorded every day is stable. However, schools have started from Monday, while places of worship will also be open from next Thursday which could result in an increased number of coronavirus cases.

On the other hand, the BMC is set to attain coronavirus vaccines worth Rs 2.2cr through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) branch from three firms in order to augment the inoculation drive in slums, reported the Times of India. This comes amidst reports of the civic authority administering over 2.5 million vaccines, helping them set a new record in September.
