Amidst the ongoing vaccination drive across Mumbai, the scam of conducting fake COVID-19 vaccinations have now reached Navi Mumbai as well.

In recent developments, 11 FIRs have been registered in the area. According to reports, the Turbhe police has informed that the accused in the case, Manish Tripathi administered fake vaccines for the coronavirus to at least 352 people at a private office in Navi Mumbai. The officials further informed that Tripathi had contacted Padmakat Patil, an employee at Atomberg Technology at TTC industrial, Nerul, in April. He duped Patil stating that he was a doctor and that he could arrange a vaccination camp at his workplace.

Moreover, Senior Inspector Rajendra Awhad of Turbhe police station stated, “The vaccination camp was organised at the company’s premises on April 24. Doctors and nurses had been arranged to administer the fake shots to the staff.”

On the other hand, earlier on Thursday, July 1, saline water was jabbed in 10 camps that opened after the case of bogus COVID-19 vaccination at Hiranandani Heritage Society in Kandivali a few days back, for which the investigation is underway.

Moreover, in Mumbai, around 2,000 people have fallen prey to fake vaccination camps. According to reports, Mumbai Police has filed seven FIRs and arrested 10 people so far which includes a woman who shared the username/password of a CoWIN account to generate vaccination certificates.
