After the lockdown restrictions were relaxed,  the Mira-Bhayander area reported a causality due to the coronavirus or COVID-19. A 50-year-old man died from Bhayander. He was tested positive for the COVID-19 on Sunday. 

This has increased to the death toll in Mira-Bhayander region to four. Of the four deaths, three were reported from Mira Road earlier. However, as per the official data, nearly 102 COVID-19 patients were recovered in the area and were discharged from the hospital. 

The area has a total of 75 active cases for the coronavirus who are under treatment while the reports of 77 people are awaited. The 50-year-old who died due to COVID-19 was admitted to a private hospital. After his demise, the swab tests report which came on Monday was positive. 

The Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) on Monday relaxed the lockdown restrictions while allowing the grocery shops to be open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The region has been under strict shutdown since April 20 under which 10 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported till Monday evening. 

On May 4, section 144 was imposed in Mumbai until May 17 which will be applicable from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM - the movement of any kind is strictly prohibited. The order clarified that only vehicles addressing medical emergencies and the ones used for essential services will be allowed in the city, during those hours.

As of May 5, India has reported 46,433 cases for the coronavirus or COVID-19 while the death toll in the county has risen to 1,568. Of these, Maharashtra has 14,541 COVID-19 cases while Mumbai alone has reported 9,310 cases. The death toll in the state has reached to 583.
