With Mumbai plateauing with regards to the number of coronavirus cases, the number of active patients is currently less than one thousand in 23 of the 24 wards of the BMC. The number of active patients in the Borivali area alone is over a thousand.

At the moment, Andheri-East (‘K-East’) has the highest number of coronavirus infections at 7,999. Of these, 6,554 patients have been cured. 495 patients have succumbed to the disease. Meanwhile, Malad (P-North), Dadar, Mahim, Dharavi (G-North), Andheri-West (K-West), Bhandup (S), Borivali (R-Central), Ghatkopar (N) wards had the highest number of coronavirus patients.

Meanwhile, in a drastic dip, Mumbai on Monday only saw 753 fresh cases of the coronavirus and 40 deaths. The city also saw 833 new recoveries taking the cured tally to 1,04,301. Mumbai currently has 1,29,479 cases, of which 17,707 are active while 7,170 people have succumbed to the disease.

The BMC had earlier increased its containment zones to 580, with over 5,509 buildings and chawls being sealed and being self-managed by the society. While the slum clusters initially reported the most number of cases, the civic body has now claimed that most cases are now being found in housing societies.

The recent report by the BMC shows South Mumbai as the most affected place with the doubling rate at 52 days, while Deonar is the least affected ward with a doubling rate at 121 days. However, the city's doubling rate at 86 days is higher than the national average of 22 days.
