COVID-19 cases in Borivali, Kandivali, Dahisar, Malad and Andheri increasing at an alarming rate

After Dharavi and Worli, the western suburbs of Mumbai have emerged as the new hotspot areas. The cases in Borivali, Kandivali, Dahisar, Malad and Andheri have been increasing at an alarming rate.

The number of coronavirus patients in Maharashtra have been increasing on a daily basis and has crossed the six lakh-mark. On Monday, nearly 11,391 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the state, taking the toll to 6,04,358. 

In Mumbai alone, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 1,29,479 and the death toll remains at 7,173. On Monday, the metropolitan city reported 753 coronavirus case and 40 fatalities. 

After Dharavi and Worli, the western suburbs of Mumbai have emerged as the new hotspot areas. The cases in Borivali, Kandivali, Dahisar, Malad and Andheri have been increasing at an alarming rate. 

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) along with the police administration is taking measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Lockdown measures and restrictions in the movement of people are being ensured in these areas. 

In Borivali, the number of coronavirus patients is increasing on a daily basis while most cases have been reported from Malad. According to the data released by the BMC, as of August 16, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached 7,749 in Malad followed by 3,272 COVID-19 cases in Dahisar, 6,675 in Borivali and 6,043 in Kandivali.  

Meanwhile, the municipal corporations in Thane, Ulhasnagar and Mira-Bhayandar have decided to allow shops to operate for seven days a week. They have discontinued the odd-even system as the small businesses were facing financial troubles.
