As the prevalence of COVID-19 is on a rise across Maharashtra, which includes Mumbai, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is reportedly holding a meeting with regards to the same at the Varsha Bungalow.

According to sources, ongoing discussions are being conducted regarding imposing stringent measures or a lockdown in view of the spike of cases of coronavirus. Therefore, it becomes pertinent to keep an eye on any announcements for the next couple of days. Meanwhile, the meeting was attended by Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Eknath Shinde and other leaders.

On the other hand, with the situation spiralling out of control in Mumbai with regards to COVID-19, the Centre has urged the state government to implement strict and efficient measures in order to curb the spread of the contagious disease.

Moreover, the partial coronavirus-induced lockdown has also returned in several cities of Maharashtra including Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Thane, Mumbai. Even though the rise in COVID-19 cases and the pattern is being followed since the beginning of February, and over the last few days, new figures are being reported. The growth has been substantial in March, and as a result, the situation in the state is deteriorating.

Earlier on March 15, a total of 2.43 lakh persons received the Covishield vaccine dose while 21,085 received the Covaxin dose across the state. To date, more than 31.33 lakh recipients have been inoculated. Currently, the Centre procures the vaccine from manufacturers at about INR 220 per dose. Based on the demand, private hospitals are permitted to purchase doses for INR 150 and they, in turn, can charge INR 100 extra as a service fee from the vaccine recipient.
