Coronavirus Outbreak: 1,926 health workers vaccinated in Mumbai

Besides CM Uddhav Thackeray, the COVID-19 vaccination drive was inaugurated by Health Minister Rajesh Tope at Jalna and by Minister of State Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar at Shirol.

On Saturday, January 16, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched the vaccination drive for the coronavirus from Mumbai, at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) COVID-19 Jumbo facility, at 11.30 am.

It was inaugurated by Health Minister Rajesh Tope at Jalna and by Minister of State Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar at Shirol. Moreover, the vaccination drive was launched in most of the districts in the presence of the Guardian Minister, local people's representative, District Collector, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad and the Municipal Commissioner.

Moreover, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as of Saturday, 1,926 health workers have been vaccinated which includes a total of 200 staffers, including 80 vaccinators who were working on Saturday.  According to sources, the response to the vaccination was as expected from the staff and there were no reports of serious side effects from the vaccine anywhere during the day.

The vaccination process is being carried out at nine vaccination centres in the city. Out of these nine places, four major hospitals, King Edward Memorial (KEM), BYL Nair Hospital at Mumbai Central, Cooper Hospital and Sion Hospital are also conducting the vaccination drive.
