According to reports, test batches of the single-dose COVID-19 vaccine by Johnson and Johnson have been sent to India’s top testing laboratory in Himachal Pradesh by its Indian partner Biological E Limited, to pave the way for commercial production.

The Indian Express has further reported that top government sources have stated that the government has still not granted indemnity against the cost of compensation for adverse side effects due to coronavirus vaccination, as sought by Johnson and Johnson. Moreover, talks on the indemnity issue are still pending, and commercial rollout of the single-dose vaccine is likely to place after a final decision is taken.

On the other hand, the United States is reportedly in talks with India in bilateral and multilateral channels in order to discuss the supply of vaccines for the coronavirus.

Moreover, it seeks to inquire about its timeline for restarting vaccine exports, a senior Biden administration official said. According to reports, the global pandemic will be a key topic on Sept. 24, when U.S. President Joe Biden will host the first in-person summit of leaders of the "Quad" countries - Australia, India, Japan and the United States.
