Maharashtra Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope has directed the administration in Pune district to undertake the unfinished work to provide facilities at jump COVID centre. Tope has given a seven days deadline to the concerned officials to finish the pending work for Intensive Care Unit (ICU), oxygen beds and ventilators. 

Tope visited the jumbo COVID centre facility on Monday at Centre of Engineering Pune (CoEP) to take stock of the situation. During his visit, the minister directed the Pune administration to appoint a super-specialist doctor at the jumbo facility in order to provide proper treatment to co-morbid patients with COVID-19. 

The administration has been asked to ensure proper facilitation of medicines and required medical equipment to start the operations for jumbo COVID centre facility with full capacity. Tope has also directed the administration to start the CT scan facility at the jumbo centre at concessional rates. 

Raising concerns over the rising COVID-19 cases and deaths in Pune, Tope held discussions with senior officials of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and asked the administration to spread awareness about the government helpline number for plasma donation.

District collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Vikram Kumar and Director of Health Dr. Archana Patil were present on the occasion along with other officials. 

Tope also visited Baner in Pune and said that everyone needs to be careful in the battle against the coronavirus. "We should be careful to not get infected by the coronavirus rather than recovering from it after contracting," he said while pointing out that the ‘My family, my responsibility’ campaign was important in order to effectively control the coronavirus outbreak.
