In a bid to battle the coronavirus, the Maharashtra government has announced that it is to conduct statewide door-to-door campaign from September 15.

On Friday, September 4, the state government, spearheaded by Uddhav Thackeray launched the scheme “My Family, My Responsibility” in order to cover 2.25 crore families in Maharashtra.

Moreover, Thackeray stated that the health department will launch the campaign in two phases, one from September 15 to October 10 and two, October 12 to October 24. The goal of the campaign is to push the volunteers who are to impart health education to the citizens, besides conducting door-to-door meetings during which they check the body temperatures of the people along with the oxygen levels, besides other symptoms, including tiredness, throat pain/dry cough, diarrhoea, and loss of smell and taste.

On the other hand, they are also to check for co-morbidities and are to advise an appropriate treatment for it.

Maharashtra, in the last 24 hours, clocked 20,489 cases of the coronavirus, which happens to be the highest ever single-day spike. This took the COVID-19 tally in the state to 8,83,862. Moreover, this happens to be the fourth consecutive day that the state has clocked a record number of coronavirus cases. Meanwhile, Mumbai, on Saturday, reported 1,737 cases taking the COVID-19 tally to 1,53,712 cases.
