Palghar's first paediatric hospital opens in Usgaon

As per reports, this facility will be heldful for treating children during the predicted third coronavirus (COVID-19) wave. Necessary arrangements are being made by the hospital staff.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, over the last few months, has drastically affected Mumbai and nearby districts. The state government has tackled the second COVID-19 wave, but the government is taking steps to ensure the predicted third wave is managed efficiently. Amidst this, a new paediatric COVID-19 hospital was inaugurated recently in Palghar's Usgaon.

This becomes the first such hospital in the district which will help the residents from the nearby areas, and it is said that President of Shramjeevi Sangathana, Vivek Pandit, is the man behind setting up the hospital.

Sharing his thought behind the same, Vivek, in a conversation with Mid-Day, said that the hospital will help patients from areas like Bhiwandi, Jawhar, Vasai, Wada, and other areas during the third COVID-19 wave. To ensure this is tackled during the pandemic, officials here have made necessary arrangements for beds in the existing Shramjeevi hospital. 

As of now, a total of 100-bed COVID care facility is being operated and besides this the hospital has space for another 137 beds. 

The facility was needed keeping tribal children in mind who may get affected due to their malnourished health, and since the district does not have any facilities for children, setting up a COVID facility would help them during the crisis. Officials are arranging for oxygen and ventilator beds as well, and the hospital ensure healthy nutritious food is given to the patients.

So far, the hospital has been successfully treating patients for free, without any form of discrimination. Furthermore, there is a team of experienced healthcare staff who takes care of all the needs. The staff has made arrangements to ensure patients do not get bored, and hence they can enjoy activities like playing badminton and chess, along with reading books.

Besides this, another hospital was recently launches in Usgaon and will be helpful for citizens living within 50km radius. As per reports, the hospital will be serve patients for all kinds of ailments, said Vivek. Minister Eknath Shinde recently performed the bhumi pujan of the same.

Keeping the experts' predictions and guidance in mind, the state recently decided to form a Pediatric Task Force keeping third COVID-19 wave in mind. Information regarding the same was shared by Rajesh Tope who added that the responsibility of the task force will be able to provide the necessary treatment for children. The team will also be arranging healthcare facilities across all districts.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, recently said that the state has started preparing for third wave. He also shared details about the acute shortage of medical oxygen for the patients in Maharashtra and keeping the same in mind, the government has urged the Centre for additional support.
