On Thursday, November 11, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope, in a virtual meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, said that the Centre should consider reducing the gap between the two shots of the Covishield vaccine. He asked the Centre to reduce the gap between two doses to speed up the vaccination process, said officials.

Tope in the meeting also informed Mandaviya about the states ongoing programme to boost the vaccination process. The meeting was also attended by health ministers from other states and union territories.

Uddhav Thackeray-led government in the state has set a target of completing 100% inoculation for the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination by November 30. The state government is working to complete this target.

Maharashtra government has initiated programmes such as 'Mission Kavach Kundal,' 'Mission Yuva Swastha' to speed the vaccination process.

Tope said that they are creating awareness amongst people about vaccination. They are also taking help from Pujaris and Hakims and various religious leaders for the same.

Earlier, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has rejected Rajesh Tope's request to reduce the time gap between the two shots of Covishield. Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to conduct the next serosurvey in February 2022
